Get Ready for the 2009 West Haven Safe Summer Kick Off!!

I know where I will be - and where you should be if you are looking for fun for you and your family!Near West Side CDC will host its second annual Safe Summer Kick-Off at Crane Tech Prep High School from 11am-4pm, June 20th, 2009.The day will be complete with exciting activities, entertainment and food for all.Come and cheer on local youth as they compete in a dunk contest, jump shot competition, and skills competition (open to youth between the ages of 10-18).The winner will receive a stipend that will go towards their college education and/or back-to-school supplies. The Crane Tech Prep and West Haven Giants baseball coaching staff will partner to provide baseball skill clinics to youth of all ages as well.Community guests will also have an opportunity to see the Bucket Boys perform, and yes these are the same Bucket Boys that perform at Chicago Bulls Games!The Bucket Boys will also provide onsite ‘bucket lessons’ to local youth.The Kick-Off will also have a live performance by ‘Da Mill’, a youth singing group from Chicago (you may remember them from last year’s kick off).
And don’t forget, food and drinks will be provided for all!
The day will provide an opportunity for the West Haven Sports Club to highlight the existing youth and young adult programs available to the West Haven community. All programs will provide mentoring and life skill training for youth participants.
