If the West Haven community ever gave out an annual award for most innovative business, we’d have ourselves a decisive winner for 2008. In a community without a carwash, Gentle Wash Mobile Detail found itself a smart niche market.

Delashone White (pictured above) is the owner and innovator of this recent start-up business. While living in Dallas, Delashone created a successful pilot program which assisted car dealerships, fleet services and local businesses. Building upon this success, Delashone moved to Chicago to expand this innovation and be closer to family.

A recent recipient of the United Center Economic Development Fund (UCEDF), Delashone took three months in careful preparation before submitting his business plan to the attention of the Near West Side CDC. UCEDF is a low interest business loan program unique to the West Haven community. As business picks up, Gentle Wash Mobile Detail anticipates expanding over the busy summer months and employing additional residents in the community

Beyond car washes, Gentle Wash Mobile Detail provides a variety of services, such as: interior & exterior detailing, pressure washing of storefront canopies, minor roadside assistance, as well as, snow removal during the winter months.
